Society disrupts the Individual Decision-Making

In class we have learned a great deal about the economy, environment and the resources in which they provide to the people. We also learned of how we have been neglecting it as they ask for our help in reducing the harmful chemicals that we release into it. But not only we are releasing harmful chemicals into the environment but into ourselves as well. As you look across our nation you see an increase in obesity and diseases such as diabetes within young adults as well as young children. As a result of this researchers have been looking for direct causes of these problems. One of the causes of these problems is society. Society and its thrust for money and selfish desires ambitions that the people of high standing in society disrupts the lifestyle of people of low socioeconomic status. They have the power to change the community and environment but they hand out promises and false notions that allow them to pursue in their own self-interest, whereby the gain a profit at the expense of others. An example of this would be how high executives within a fast food company would continue to develop new products or meals that are increasing in greasy food as well as opening more fast food restaurants in areas that are in poverty and in destitute.
Society has placed a heavy burden on people because of the economic stress 0f your status within that social structure. An example of this is access to quality food providers such as local farmers market, and by changing minimum wages so that those at the poverty line don't have to choose between working and health care. The meaning behind promoting individual responsibility within social determinants refers to giving suggestions to individuals of poor economic status to better their health within the framework of their status. Generally it is making decisions that are within their social dynamic to better their health and lifestyle. Therefore instead of going out to buy McDonald's or Wendy's one can choose to stay home and cook themselves some grilled chicken with some rice or some pasta which does not contain as much saturated fats and high in cholesterol as fast food. Another way is by walking during your free time instead of watching television or using your computer for most of the time.
Society places a lot of stress on individuals decision making especially when it comes down to eating because of all of the advertisement that it provides the community with. But instead of them brainwashing the people we shouldn't pay attention to them and understand that the foods that we are putting into our body are harmful and when it all comes down to it, it is our own free-will and choices that influences our health.
