Veteran's Day

We as Americans have been proud of many things; our pride, our accomplishments and our people. We strive to continue our nationality by defending and protecting it against those who harm our people. Veterans make the ultimate risk and sacrifice when they go into war leaving their whole lives behind without knowing if they will come back or not. We as Americans should adapt this mentality of unselfishness like these veterans because only then can we have a better and healthier nation.
Jeff Dardozzi reviews over W. Stanley Jevon's economic ideas in his article "The Spector of Jevon's Paradox". In this article he mentions Jevon's paradox, or as its known by its other name the rebound effect, which overall states that "increased efficiency paradoxically leads to increased overall energy consumption." This means that whenever there is a decrease in the demand of the product, the price of it drops which in turn results in the increases in the overall demand of the product once again at a low cost. The second part to this process is that the money that is saved from the consumption of the product at low costs you end up spending it which in turn puts it back into the economy. One example of this is when people all of a sudden boycott/reduce buying DVD's, this is turn reduces the price of it so that it can encourage people to buy it, which they do. The money they save the end up using to buy whatever it is they wanted. Another example is when fans stop attending the games of their favorite basketball team, which will force the tickets of it to drop. A sudden purchase of tickets for these games will save the consumer a lot of money allowing them to save money and use the saved up money to attend other better teams. This is consumer spending which helps the economy and the system, by ending the spending this will cripple the economy system.
The sea of selves is a concept that refers to individuals who look after themselves and well being instead of the community they live in, without realizing that they themselves are part of the actually community. The notion of civic and divine is that civic is in another words the social/moral norms of the individual whereas divine is realizing that there are greater things other than the individual itself. Jeff Dardozzi essays were enlightening and very informative mostly since I did not know most of this prior to the reading.
